A Detailed 10-Day Samburu, Lewa And Masai Mara Itinerary

Days 1-3: Begin Your Safari at Saruni Samburu | 3 Nights

The sole lodge located in the picturesque mountains of the Kalama Conservancy, which borders the Saruni National Reserve, Saruni Samburu is the perfect place to start your 10-Day Samburu, Lewa And Masai Mara safari. Enjoy a safari without having to fight your way through hordes of other tourists. Make yourself at home in your villa, which faces out over the breathtaking scenery of northern Kenya. During your exploration days, you’ll get the opportunity to go on game drives inside Samburu National Reserve. This is the best place to observe the endemic ‘Special 5’ of Samburu, which are reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the unusual long-necked gerenuk. You will be escorted by Samburu warriors. Their knowledge of the animals goes back centuries, and they are happy to share their enthusiasm for their homeland and culture with you.

Take a picnic lunch and return to the resort to unwind for the afternoon while keeping an eye out for bigger animals including leopards, elephants, and lions. The spa, swimming pools, and decks provide plenty of opportunities for relaxation, including taking a nap. Hike to the sacred peak of the Samburu people, Ololokwe, or explore the caverns with their rock-painted walls. An unforgettable day comes to a close with sundowners and dinner. Dinner under the stars in the forest, a game drive in the evening in Kalama Conservancy, and a night drive back to the resort are all possible options. On your final night, with the help of lights and primal fire, the Samburu warriors will perform a dance.

Days 4-6: Off to Sirikoi Lodge | 3 Nights

You will continue your 10-day Samburu, Lewa And Masai Mara journey to Sirikoi Lodge, which is located within the world-famous Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. While Saruni Samburu offered elevated views across dramatic terrain, Sirikoi brings you closer to the earth—nestled into the natural landscape, where you’re within the rhythm of the surrounding habitat.

There is a lot to see and do in Lewa, Kenya, beyond only the amazing wildlife viewing. The park is home to more than 10% of the world’s black rhinos. The adjacent Ngare Ndare Forest is perfect for a guided hike or quad bike tour; it has a 400-meter-long canopy walkway strung among the trees and secret waterfalls that are fed by Mount Kenya.

Massages in your room, horseback riding, and guided bush walks await you when you return to camp. Speciality dishes are prepared with organic, locally sourced ingredients from Sirikoi’s vast kitchen garden. Located on an elevated platform with a large furnished deck, your luxury tent offers a breathtaking view of the wide grasslands, where animals frequently grazes during the day. Soak in your Victorian-era “tub with a view” for a while before sundowners, sipping a cold glass of bubbly. As the sun goes down, a warm fire crackles, inviting you inside for a pre-bedtime supper of tea or wine.

Days 7-9: Time to Explore Saruni Mara | 3 Nights

In the wee hours of the morning, you will say your goodbyes to Samburu and board a plane to Saruni Mara, a hidden valley in the Mara North Conservancy on the Masai Mara. Suddenly, you’re stepping off the airport and into a game-viewing vehicle, where a Maasai warrior, deeply invested in and well-versed in his ancestral grounds, is guiding the way. Following in his footsteps will allow you to witness not just the famous but also the lesser-known, such as the mating rituals of birds, families of energetic warthogs, and crafty hyenas.

Day 10: Bid Farewell to Kenya

After ten-days unforgettable Samburu, Lewa And Masai Mara, you will return to Nairobi, so have one final morning to enjoy the Mara before continuing your journey home.
