Saruni Samburu | Luxury Safari Lodge Samburu National Reserve

Overview of Saruni Samburu Kenya, Samburu

Located in the picturesque Kalama Conservancy mountains, Saruni Samburu is the only lodge in the area and adjoins the Samburu National Reserve, providing guests with an unspoiled natural setting away from highways, buildings, and hordes of people. For a relaxing and fashionable getaway in the heart of Kenya’s natural beauty, this is the perfect spot for families and couples. With its open-air reception and eating room perched on a clifftop overlooking an infinite valley, the building immediately conjures images of north Africa. It features a stunning fire pit perched on a cliff and is embellished with brass and other objects.

Hunt for traditional African wildlife in three adjacent reserves on morning and evening game drives. Have a picnic by the riverside and relax for the afternoon, or join a Samburu warrior on a foot tour of the Kalama Mountains and their rock art. There are two swimming pools with breathtaking views, and after a day of activities, you may unwind and rejuvenate at the spa with a view of the Kalama Conservancy.

Amazing Saruni Samburu is situated high up in the hills, so there are plenty of room between the rooms, the spa, the pools, and the reception, making it perfect for visitors who want some space to themselves. Keep an eye out for the silent Aders’s duiker, one of the world’s tiniest antelopes, and the monogamous klipspringer antelope pairs that make their home among the massive boulders.

Rooms at Saruni Samburu

Villa 5

On a clear day, guests at Saruni Samburu may see the snow-capped peak of Mount Kenya from their rooms, and the property offers breathtaking views of the rugged northern Kenyan countryside in all directions. Guests can enjoy a secluded and pleasant wilderness retreat in one of these eco-friendly villas.

The villas’ rustic furnishings, which include local stone, are an expression of the raw, natural environment that served as inspiration for the design. Unique and built using cutting-edge structural architecture, each home is multi-story in some cases. The large living areas provide a high level of modern luxury, and the en suite bathrooms offer a combination of indoor and outdoor showers, as well as tubs, and breathtaking vistas.

General Facilities

During the morning and late afternoon, it is not uncommon to witness elephant, giraffe, and zebra drinking from a waterhole that is overlooked by a large swimming pool. Continuing up the cliff, you’ll find a second pool that basks in the sun all day long as well, encircled by the old rock.

The serene spa combines modern technology with ancient Samburu therapies, providing a chance to rest and be pampered. With its own private runway, the lodge is conveniently located for those who like to fly in. For those who enjoy birdwatching and photography, there is a private hide available. In addition to participating in animal tracking and other experiences that make up the ‘Warriors’ program, families with children will love visiting a real-life hamlet that is nearby. You can also use the WiFi.

Dining

At Saruni Samburu, you can always expect a delicious lunch that combines local and international flavours. The food has a heavy Italian influence, and it’s easy to accommodate vegans and those with other particular dietary needs.

On request, we can also arrange for lunch or afternoon picnics. Al fresco bush dinners, when the staff will bring you to a peaceful area they’ve chosen themselves, are a great opportunity to soak up the ambiance of an African evening while you dine on the veranda or, even better, under the stars.
