Private Sky Charters/Jets, Helicopters Safaris

Helicopter safaris/Private Sky Charters, which are among our most exclusive offerings, allow for a highly personalized and adaptable exploration of any of the countries in our portfolio.

An extraordinarily complex and extensive backup operation is necessary for this vacation, the most opulent of the luxury safaris that we advertise. A safari tailored to each individual’s desires and requirements, ready for any experience. That being said, if it becomes necessary, we are fully capable of and willing to relocate the goal posts to another country.

Our current helicopter safari destinations include the northern regions of Ethiopia and Kenya, the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the Chobe Riverfront, the Kalahari salt pans, and the Skeleton Coast in Namibia. The typical duration of these trips is 10–14 days, and their purpose is to see all that the area has to offer, including staying in five-star hotels when needed and exploring remote regions that are seldom visited by tourists.

The Safari Collection Helicopter Experiences to Northern Kenya

Helicopter safari

Transform the trip into an unforgettable adventure. For an ethereal view of wild borderlands, our picturesque sites are hand-picked. Behold a lioness preying on gazelles under the cover of a hovering helicopter. In the last remaining unspoiled regions of Africa, you can still see the distinctive tracks of zebras and elephants charging determinedly toward the horizon, which have long defined the continent’s oldest roadways.

Safari experience

From a low-flying helicopter, a megaflyover camera captures a hidden part of Africa, revealing undulating sand dunes and surging wildlife. This proves that nothing in nature lasts forever. Seeing the deliberate, laborious movement of wildlife below in a helicopter during the dry season in Africa changes the way you feel about the animals you see on drives. It would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to reach many of the places flown over by land, sea, or canoe due to the immense wetlands, deep deserts, and dense Mopane woods.

Journey expertise

From helping anti-poaching programs transport Rhinos to secure sanctuaries in Kenya to saving young elephant calves from dangerous situations, our expert pilots have been in the thick of conservation efforts across Africa. A private safari planning company with than a decade of expertise, The Bespoke African Safari Co.® has teamed with some of Africa’s most illustrious names in conservation and documentary filmmaking. Acclaimed filmmakers have also relied on the Bespoke African Safari Co.® for help in obtaining the ideal footage for the iconic aerial shots of Africa that have been immortalized in media pertaining to the region.

Ancient Migrations

As you soar over these plateaus, you will behold the most breathtaking natural wonders: Viewed from above, the great animal migration is more than just a simple movement; it hints at planning, the old impulse of herds of millions of animals knowingly fording wild frontiers.

About 2.5 million years ago, in the Great Rift Valley, some of the most breathtaking terrain on Earth was shared by humans and other species. As you soar above the rich savannah lands that separate nations and various habitats, you can see the accumulated wisdom and determination of evolution over generations. Africa has the most varied landscapes of any continent in the world, and its history goes back to the Precambrian period. The borders of nations are irrelevant on your travels through these areas.

Tallest peaks of Africa

An Uncovering of Luxury Travel’s Hidden Gems On our private helicopter safaris, we will whisk you away to the wildest, most inaccessible areas. Seen in a single jaw-dropping panorama are the two highest mountains in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya. Experience the same breathtaking vistas that the great safari explorers previously described as the sun gracefully sets over the Great Rift Valley’s flamingo-filled lakes. Customized itineraries will lead you to the most breathtaking, game-rich locations, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

The Wetlands

A collection of myriad streams and little rivers form the catchment of the Okavango Delta, fed by summer rains falling between October and April, swelling the waters between December and March. This delta owes its creation to tectonic movements in a set of fault lines in the earth’s weaker crust along an extension of the Great Rift Valley in East Africa, still occurring today.

By the dry winter, these scenic floodplains and islands encapsulate some of Africa’s most abundant concentrations of predators and antelope, also providing a spectacular diversity of birdlife.

The awe-inspiring diversity of African wildlife and the immensity of the continent as a whole make for an unforgettable flight over Africa.

Fly camping under the stars while exploring areas that have truly been unexplored by anyone else is one of our favorite flying experiences in Africa. It happens when you stay at Sirikoi in Laikipia, Kenya, and are flown up to Turkana by Willie Roberts, the renowned guide and owner of Sirikoi. Turkana is one of the most remote and undiscovered destinations in Kenya.

While gliding between camps in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, you can see massive herds of elephants, buffalo, and even lions vying for dominance. It is only from above that the Okavango’s lagoons and islands can be fully appreciated.

Helicopter flips over the Drakensberg and the “flight of the giants”—swooping over Southern Right whales near Hermanus as they move south—are two of the many thrilling aviation attractions in South Africa.

Experience a new perspective on one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders as you soar over Victoria Falls in a helicopter, guided by an enchanting pilot who will perform acrobatics over the iconic landmark.

Or, for a change of pace, why not swap out one of your light aircraft hops for a helicopter landing on an isolated island in the Delta? Your private pilot, guide, and aircraft will whisk you away to uncharted territories in Botswana or Namibia that no one has ever been before.

In addition, you must go on a helicopter tour over Northern Kenya and into Turkana, which has a reputation for having some of Africa’s most breathtaking unspoiled landscapes, from Sirikoi, Ol Malo, or Enasoit in the north of the country. One of the most extraordinary and unforgettable things you can do is go helicopter camping in Turkana.

Several camps offer scenic flights in traditional Kenyan light planes, which are particularly popular during the Masai Mara wildebeest migration. The flights between Richard’s Camp’s Main Camp and Private Camp are known for their breathtaking scenery.

Experience the real “Out of Africa” with a romantic flight in a vintage Waco Bi-Plane while staying at Sirikoi.

Explore Northern Tanzania in style aboard a luxury “business class” light aircraft, stopping at Arusha Coffee Lodge, Tarangire Treetops, The Manor at Ngorongoro, Migration Camp, and finally, home. This is the pinnacle of flying safari luxury.

Ride a hot air balloon over the Serengeti or Masai Mara, two enormous plains in Tanzania.

If you are interested in scenic flights, helicopter trips, or private flying safaris anywhere in Africa, please do not hesitate to let us know. This is an experience that will truly be unforgettable.

Helicopter across Namibia

Helicopter Safaris Namibia

Namibia, with its potentially roughest yet most picturesque landscape, would be an ideal African country to view from above, especially from a helicopter.

Starting on the Angolan border, your helicopter will follow the Kunene River to the Atlantic, fly along the coast’s incredibly dry habitat, and make stops at some of the best luxury desert lodges in Namibia as you journey along the Skeleton Coast, to the enormous dunes of Sossusvlei, and into the expansive desert interiors.

The NamibRand’s conservation brilliance, the world’s largest dunes, the Himba of Kaokaland, the comparatively inaccessible Marienfluss Valley, and the spectacular Epupa Falls are among highlights along the route.

This once-in-a-lifetime helicopter tour of Namibia will change your perspective on the world in more ways than one. You’ll get to experience the country’s wildlife up close, the freedom to explore at your own pace, and the opportunity to learn about the traditional traditions of the people you visit.

Helicopter Safaris Uganda

Helicopter Safaris Uganda

Helicopter travel over Uganda offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the country’s diverse wildernesses, from the desert to the savannah, the mountains, and the tropical forest, among many more stunning landscapes. With strategically placed cars to assist the pilot, your private helicopter accompanies you the entire way.

Beginning in the semi-arid Kidepo Valley and concluding on Bulago Island in Lake Victoria, the helicopter tour will take in the Kigezi Highlands—home to mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest—as well as the savannah, wetland, and low forest habitats of Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will also take in a dawn flight over the Rwenzori massifs and game flights over Murchison Falls.

While in Uganda, you will get the opportunity to stay in some of the country’s most luxurious accommodations, see the world’s largest cyad forest, cruise up the Victoria Nile, and learn about the Karimajong people’s rich traditional practices in the northeast.

Helicopter Safaris across Botswana

Helicopter Safaris across Botswana

The chance to witness Botswana’s extraordinarily diverse landscape from above is a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially considering the Okavango Delta, the Linyanti River, Chobe National Park’s swamps and plains, and the Makgadikgadi Pans.

The helicopter safari begins at a five-star lodge in the Okavango Delta and flies south-west over the delta, the riverbank, the Selinda and Savuti waterways, and finally the Kalahari’s flat white pans. The journey begins in the Angolan highlands, at the delta’s source. Wildlife such as elephants, lions, hippos, crocodiles, leopards, blue wildebeests, zebras, impalas, wild dogs, buffalo, and red lechwe can be viewed from the comparatively safe vantage point of the skies as you travel. This is the pinnacle of safari watching, accessible via specially built viewing floors or open side doors.

In addition to providing unrivaled access to a wide range of habitats and animals, a helicopter safari allows you to go to inaccessible places that would be otherwise impossible to reach. Imagine having lunch on an island in the delta and then watching the sun set over the picturesquely barren Nxai Pan—the pinnacle of luxury safaris.

Helicopter Safari through the Highlands of Ethiopia

Helicopter Safari through the Highlands of Ethiopia

Through this Platinum adventure in Ethiopia, you can reach plateaus and valleys in the northern highland massif that were previously unreachable. Throughout the trip, your own helicopter will be by your side, accompanied by strategically placed vehicles (and fuel drums!) to assist with the flying. There will be fewer people in the places we land than there were when we landed on the moon.

Along the way, the helicopter will fly over the Danakil salt pans, the obelisks and church of St. Mary at Axum, the rock and cave churches of Gheralta and Lalibela, and the endemic Gelada Baboon of the Simien Mountains. As the chopper returns home, passing Lake Turkana and descending the Kenyan Rift Valley, you have the choice to prolong your safari into northern Kenya if you so desire.
