Boma National Park, Sudan

Boma National Park is the largest protected area in southeastern Sudan. It was established in 1938 as a Game Reserve, with the purpose of protecting wildlife populations during the second world war. The Park received its name from a large number of termite mounds in the park. The term Boma comes from the Dinka language, and it means “a mound.”
