Tarangire National Park, Tanzania Safari

The abundance of gigantic baobab trees and large herds of elephants make Tarangire National Park famous. During the dry season, elephants may rely on these trees—which can survive for hundreds of years—for water because of a unique method they’ve developed to extract it. During the dry season, the Tarangire River serves as the sole water source, which explains why the park is home to numerous species, including herds of up to 250 elephants!

There are many different kinds of creatures that visit the park because of its varied terrain. For instance, there’s the lake, the lush jungle teeming with birds and monkeys, the woodlands where you can get up close and personal with elephants, and the manyara hippo pool, where hippos splash about from dawn ’til dusk.

Impressive predator populations include nearly 4,000 lions, 225 cheetahs, 1,000 leopards, 3,500 hyenas, and hundreds of wild dogs; the massive, stampeding herds are no less so. And there are a plethora of other stunning creatures that you and your guide can look for. Is everyone prepared to do this?
