African Photography Safari Destinations
What is a Photographic Safari
Because of the proliferation of affordable camera equipment and the rise of digital wildlife photography, photographic safaris have emerged as an alternative to traditional safaris. Less people will be on the safari vehicle or boat during the photo tours. A wildlife photographer will often accompany you on these trips, and they will be a great resource for learning the ins and outs of wildlife photography.
If you don’t bring your own camera on certain photo safaris, they will supply one for you to use. Unlike on a typical safari without cameras, you’ll be paired with other wildlife photographers, so you may take your time snapping pictures of the animals without worrying that anyone else on the safari is getting bored.
Getting lost in Africa on a photo safari!
African Photography Safaris
Exciting photo chances will be available on any safari to Africa. A tailor-made photo safari in Africa, on the other hand, will ensure that your memories will be saved to the very last detail.
Great lodging, breathtaking landscapes, and knowledgeable guides are the hallmarks of a traditional safari, but top-notch photography isn’t always required. For this reason, tourists with an interest in landscape and wildlife photography would do well to book a photographic safari with an expert. When shooting Africa’s unpredictable wildlife, it’s crucial to have a skilled photographic guide by your side as you venture into the bush. If you’re looking for a steady shot of the rumbling wildebeest migration or the ideal shot of a timid cat, your personal expert photographer is available to teach you the ropes.
Madikwe Game Reserve – South Africa’s Best Kept Photo Safari Secret!
Will there be a professional photographer on every photo safari
Botswana is home to some of the world’s most talented wildlife photographers, and we couldn’t be luckier. The Bespoke African Safari Co. Hosts is what we call them.
But there are only five of them on duty permanently, so if you want to spend your safari with one of them, you should sign up for one of our sponsored workshops, such as the Chobe, Delta, and Kalahari Safari, the Wildebeest Migration Safari, or The Best of Chobe.
Guests of The Bespoke African Safari Co have the option of having a professional photographer accompany them on all of their excursions. Safari Photography LENS GUIDE (Choosing the right lenses for your next adventure!)
What’s a normal group size on a photo safari
We typically work with four or more photographic safari clients on our safaris. For instance, the safari vehicles we employ in the Okavango Delta can accommodate four passengers, but our specially designed picture boats on the Chobe River can accommodate eight.
A photographic safari host can accommodate up to eight visitors during a group photo safari that visits several locations. This strikes the ideal mix between providing you with the attention and instruction you need and keeping the cost of the photographic safaris reasonable. We would be pleased to create a photographic safari schedule for you if you would like to reserve a private photo safari experience with a photo host and a party of fewer than eight people.
Are your safaris suited for beginner wildlife photographers
No matter how skilled they believe they are, everyone was a novice once and still has a lot to learn about wildlife photography! Many of our clients who are new to wildlife photography are on our photographic safaris. However, we have discovered that if you spend time with a professional wildlife photography guide in the world’s best classroom—the African Bush—you will quickly become a proficient and accomplished wildlife photographer yourself.
We also host very seasoned guests who have gone on numerous photographic safaris. During their African safari with us, they will not only hone their talents but also truly enjoy wildlife photography in the company of other enthusiasts who share their passion. For additional instruction, check our YouTube channel and read this post about photography safaris for novices.
How much does a photo safari to Africa cost
We were frequently asked this question. When you want to travel, where you want to go to take pictures of wildlife, and how luxurious you want your African safari to be all have a big impact on how much a photography safari costs.
Many African safari companies have been competing with one another in recent years by offering increasingly ostentatious luxury. This, in our opinion, totally misses the purpose of an African safari. The African animals should be the main focus of the safari, not how many threads there are in the sheets you’re resting on.
Every one of our photography vacation packages is offered in safari lodges and camps that prioritize the opportunity to see animals. Our guests are more than satisfied with a comfortable bed, hot water on tap, delectable home-cooked meals, and lots of opportunity for wildlife photography—of course, everyone wants to be comfortable!
We have tried our best to lower the price of the single supplements on our clients’ picture trips because we understand that many of them are traveling alone. However, since the majority of the external camps we employ are smaller, this is occasionally inevitable, particularly during the busiest months of June through October.
When is the best time of year to go on a photo safari
No matter the season, we think Africa is a fantastic travel destination. The best time to travel depends on your interests in seeing and photographing different places. Take the time immediately following the arrival of the rains at the end of the year as an example; it’s perfect for capturing newborn animals. The months of January through March are ideal for bird photography since that is when many species of migrating birds settle down for the winter.
The common belief that photography safaris are best enjoyed during the dry season (April to October) drives up demand and prices, which is why there are several pricing seasons for safaris. Many people question why this is the case.
You can get more for your money and, in many cases, better chances to capture animals if you go during one of these off-seasons, especially if you’re travelling alone. Read our piece on Botswana’s changing seasons if you have a chance.
