Embark on an exhilarating game drive this afternoon with your knowledgeable guide, making sure to keep a lookout for giraffes. The typical habitat of giraffes includes grasslands, open woods, and savannas. Their ability to browse at heights that other herbivores cannot allows them to favour regions with abundant acacia trees, a vital food supply. While adults are generally safe from predators, young calves are easy prey for animals like lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, and feral dogs. It is normal for giraffes to congregate for a few hours of feeding or mingling before going their separate ways to graze. The practice of “neckings,” in which the male participant uses his neck as a weapon in combat, helps to establish social hierarchies among males. Mating rights are granted to females based on these displays, and the sole duty of nurturing their young is subsequently placed on their shoulders.

Day 3: Masai Mara
Lose Yourself in Nature
Masai Mara | The Safari of a LIFETIME!
You and your knowledgeable guide will go on a game drive first thing in the morning today. Many different kinds of animals call the Masai Mara their home. The park is teeming with a wide variety of animals, including the Big Five—lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalo, and leopards—as well as countless more, such as impalas, topics, hartebeests, zebras, and Masai giraffe. Among the more than 450 bird species found there are hornbills, crowned cranes, ostriches, long-crested eagles, African pygmy falcons, marabou storks, vultures, and secretary birds.
During this afternoon, your knowledgeable guide will pick you up from your lodge and take you on a game drive in the Masai Mara, with a special emphasis on lions. The savanna and grasslands are typical habitats for lions, which are known to be exceptionally sociable cats and to have an average life expectancy of 10–14 years. Lion prides are made up of a small number of adult males, a small number of females that are connected to each other, and their young. While prides of female lions hunt in groups, male lions are instantly recognisable by their manes and enormous faces, making them one of the most culturally significant animals.
Day 4: Masai Mara
Your game drive this morning will begin bright and early with the help of your guide. The zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest migrations that take place every year in the Masai Mara are what bring the area its famed abundance of wildlife. You have the best opportunity of seeing these magnificent herds from July to October, when they migrate north into Masai Mara from the Serengeti, however sightings are never certain because the herds follow their food supply.
Embark on a wildlife drive across the breathtaking Masai Mara in the afternoon. Animals come out of hiding and start moving about more as the sun goes down and the plains get cooler. Keep an eye out for a herd of elephants as they make their way to rivers and watering holes for a refreshing drink and a mud bath. The typical life expectancy of an elephant, the biggest terrestrial animal on the planet, is fifty to seventy years. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to witness the largest animals on Earth—African elephants—on your safari in the Masai Mara.
