Once you’ve found the gorilla family, you’ll get an hour to admire them in their natural environment, however the trip can vary significantly in length.

The Table Mountain cableway:
Savour breathtaking views of Robben Island, Camps Bay, the beach, and the Twelve Apostles towards Hout Bay from Cape Town’s most recognisable landmark.

A Detailed African Odyssey Itinerary

Days 1–4: Three nights in the heart of Volcanoes National Park

Arsenal’s David Luiz goes on an unforgettable gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park

Over half of the world’s 880 surviving mountain gorillas reside on the forested slopes of the Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans), one of the few remaining mountain gorilla havens in Rwanda, which is tucked away in the country’s far northwest.

Enjoy cultural tours, travel to volcano craters, embark on the Dian Fossey Hike or spend your days here following gorillas and golden monkeys with knowledgeable naturalist guides.

Where to stay: Wilderness Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, Wilderness Bisate Lodge

Days 4–8: Three nights in the Maasai Mara

Take morning and afternoon game drives to explore the renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve. Additionally, you will be alert for the well-known river crossings throughout the migration season. Your lodge will determine the specific activities that are offered, and our African Odyssey designers will assist you in selecting the one that best fits your needs.

Where to stay: Rekero Camp, Governors Private Camp

Days 8–11: The Victoria Falls and the mighty Zambezi River

One of Africa’s most breathtaking sights is the thunderous Victoria Falls. Mosi-oa-Tunya (roughly, “the smoke that thunders”) is the native name for the powerful Zambezi River, which splatters a mist of water high into the air as it falls over sheer cliffs onto the rocks below.

Luxurious hotels in Livingstone, the town on the Zambian side of the water, or someplace upstream along the Zambezi are excellent starting points for seeing this breathtaking phenomenon in its entirety. We’ll make sure you get the most out of your stay, whether it’s through private guided tours of the falls, river-based safaris where you may observe hippos, white water rafting in Batoka Gorge, or a visit to the well-known Livingstone Island.

Where to stay: Royal livingstone, Royal Chundu Island Lodge

Days 11–15: Four days exploring the Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta – Okavango River

In order to appreciate the Okavango Delta’s natural beauty and the amazing wildlife that calls it home, you will spend your days going on day and evening game drives. The delta is renowned for its water safari activities, but there are many other options to fully immerse yourself in this extraordinarily varied natural setting, depending on which lodge you choose to stay at. While you enjoy seeing small frogs and stunning birdlife, from the lilac-breasted roller to the larger water birds like herons, storks, and, if you’re lucky, the Pel’s Fishing owl, your guide will share the secrets of the Delta with you as you speed through the waterways in a powerboat or drift along in a mokoro.

Where to Stay: Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge, Duba Plains

Days 15–18: Three nights immersed in the wonders of Cape Town

You can truly be astounded by Cape Town, one of the most breathtaking cities on earth. The famous Table Mountain dominates the horizon, while the pristine seas of the cape and the relaxed bustle of the city’s waterfront, which is surrounded by charming suburbs and sandy beaches, are in the foreground.

During your visit, you will see the Houses of Parliament, the Castle (the oldest structure in South Africa, constructed between 1666 and 1679), the bustling Green Market Square with its daily market, the coastal suburbs, the Bo Kaap neighbourhood (formerly the Malay Quarter), Table Mountain, and the Cape Peninsula.
