A Detailed 10 Days Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Find Your Feet in Entebbe
Your transfer to the adjacent Karibu Guesthouse Entebbe will take place shortly after your arrival at Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport. With a swimming pool, spa services, massage rooms, and high-pressure showers, this is the perfect place to rest after a long day of travelling.
Days 2 -3: On Track to Primate Paradise | 2 Nights
Kibale Forest, Uganda
Chimpanzee Trek Finale in Uganda’s Kibale Forest
After a good night’s sleep and an early morning meal, a guide will drive you to Fort Portal, which is located in the northern foothills of the Ruwenzori Mountains, in a 4WD vehicle. Even though the drive will take about five hours, there will always be something intriguing to see because the route passes through several small communities, tea plantations, and rolling hillsides.
The last sprint to your goal starts after a lunch stop at Fort Portal, and by early afternoon, the staff at Ndali Lodge is prepared to greet you.
If you have the time, go for a guided walk along the edge of Crater Lake or cool off in the lodge’s pool. Whatever you decide, don’t forget to pause and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake and the thick forest beyond. The day ends with a beautiful dinner, and your private, en suite cottage is waiting for you. After a peaceful night’s sleep, enjoy breathtaking views of the snow-capped Rwenzori mountains from the comfort of your own balcony the next morning before making your way to the main lodge. The lodge veranda facing the lake serves a hearty breakfast, which is the ideal way to start the day, even if there is no power to ensure that nothing disturbs the natural forest ambiance.
The adventure of the day then starts as you leave Ndali Lodge and travel to the neighbouring Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a memorable Primate Walk. In addition to creating a secure environment to see over 200 bird species, many primate species, and other fascinating creatures, this amazing community-run project is dedicated to preserving the region’s distinctive biodiversity. A filling lunch is served after your guided tour, and then you may head to the Chimpanzee Trek for your next adventure.
Enter the renowned Kibale Forest for an adventure of a lifetime. It is nearly hard to avoid finding a troop of primates in the forest because it is reputed to have the highest concentration and variety of primates in East Africa. Observe how chimps communicate as you stroll through lush vegetation and listen to their chatter. You may hear how newborns cling to their moms, how senior males defend their tribe, and how noisy youngers play. Return to Ndali Lodge after a captivating afternoon to tell stories about the day as the sun sets over the mountains.
Days 4-6: Head Across the Equator | 3 Nights
Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
Say goodbye to Ndali Lodge and start the roughly three-hour journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park by car. Before reaching the Equator, take in the beloved agricultural landscapes and charming communities as your driver makes their way around the Ruwenzori Mountains.
As you reach the national park, you’ll observe a lot of Ugandan Kobs, along with the occasional elephant and buffalo in the distance. Before arriving at Kyambura Gorge Lodge, take a break from the drive and eat a small lunch. Then, go through the park in a manner more akin to a game drive. Before heading back to your Banda after supper, spend the rest of the day relaxing and unwinding at this eclectic old coffee plantation.
Uganda’s top big game park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, is home to a variety of amazing animals, such as primates, lions, leopards, buffalo, and even the occasional crocodile. Savour breathtaking boat trips down the well-known Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward, and exhilarating wildlife drives with outstanding guides. See how many hippos you can spot—the region has one of the highest concentrations of these large river-dwellers in the world all year round—and keep an eye out for exciting wildlife and birds that are drawn to the channel.
During your visit, you should also check out the local community projects in addition to wildlife-based activities. The Omwani Women’s Coffee Cooperative is an effort to train women in vocational skills so they can care for Arabica and Robusta coffee plants on 100 acres of land in a sustainable manner. Before savouring a taste of “the best cup of coffee in Uganda,” visitors can observe the organic coffee growing and hand-processed coffee.
Days 7 – 9: Greet the Gorillas | 3 Nights
Bwindi National Park, Uganda
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park | The Ultimate Guide to Gorilla Trekking
Say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth National Park’s northern region and make your way to the Congolese border. Enjoy an exhilarating wildlife drive in the Ishasha Plains, which is well-known for its tree-climbing lions, as part of your about five to six-hour adventure. Before reaching Bwindi Volcanoes Lodge, where you will spend the following few nights, depart Ishasha for an incredibly picturesque journey over terraced fields and undulating hills.
adventure the once-in-a-lifetime Gorilla Tracking adventure in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with knowledgeable guides. Follow these gentle giants’ telltale indications as you trek through the forest, and at a respectful distance, meet their expressive gaze. Admire the opportunity to see their world unfiltered as you observe the group interacting and going about their regular lives.
Enjoy a well-earned massage, explore the Munyanga River’s tail to a nearby waterfall, or spend your final full day relaxing at Bwindi Volcanoes Lodge with a view of the forest canopy. While at the lodge, look for butterflies and birds that live in the forest because this idyllic area of primaeval forest has remarkable biological richness. As an alternative, take a tour of the nearby tea plantation or stop by the Ride 4 a Woman Project, an empowerment program that equips women with the skills they need to support themselves.
Savour delectable, healthful meals that skilfully blend regional fare with popular western dishes while taking in breathtaking views of the valley.
Day 10: Goodbye for Now
Today marks the culmination of your primate adventure. You will be taken to the Kihihi Airstrip for a small aircraft flight back to Entebbe International Airport following an early breakfast. After landing, you will be taken to lunch at The Boma Hotel Entebbe before returning to the airport to catch your subsequent departure.
