A Grand 15 Days Kenya And Tanzania Safari Itinerary
This 15 Days Kenya And Tanzania Safari Itinerary. Central to East Africa’s reputation as one of the world’s most wanted locations are the enormous, glitzy, and shamelessly lavish safaris that princes and princesses, potentates, plutocrats, and even former presidents enjoyed. Teddy Roosevelt’s epic 1909 safari was one of the first of its lavish kind. The Bespoke African Safari Co. pays tribute to bygone eras of indulgence and exquisite grace on our Grand 15 Days Kenya and Tanzania Safari.
The six flights on the Grand Kenya and Tanzania Safari make the journey between the game preserves and the luxury camps quick and easy. With accommodations such as the spacious Tortilis Camp in Amboseli, the cozy Maasai Mara’s Bateleur Camp, the Serengeti’s Four Seasons Safari Lodge or Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge, and, of course, the Laikipia Plateau’s Lewa Safari Camp, we are able to get up close and personal with some of Africa’s most abundant wildlife areas and breathtaking scenery.

Detailed 15 Days Kenya And Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1: En Route
As you board the plane bound for Africa, your 15 Days Kenya And Tanzania Safari journey has just begun.
Days 2 & 3: Nairobi, Kenya’s bustling, cosmopolitan capital
When we land in Nairobi, our The Bespoke African Safari Co. Director will be waiting to take us to Hemingways, a hotel with an authentic African vibe and traditional amenities that any great aficionado of Africa would have loved.
Our 15 Days Kenya And Tanzania Safari for the following day includes a visit to the Harambee Centre, a meeting with Giraffa camelopardalis at the Giraffe Centre, and a stop at the home of Karen Blixen, whose work, written under the pen name Isak Dinesen, is among the most moving accounts of any location on Earth. After a lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Nairobi, we’ll have a tour of the city’s world-class National Museum and then go back to the tranquil Hemingways for our overnight stay.
Days 4 & 5 Amboseli, in the shadow of Kilimanjaro
Is Amboseli Kenya Worth Visiting? (Honest Opinions)
This morning, we will take a flight south over the Athi Plains to reach the breathtaking Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is overseen by Mount Kilimanjaro, the still-glaciated king of Africa, which rises three dizzying miles above the grasslands of the park. For Peter Matthiessen, “A snow peak in the tropics draws the heart to a fine shimmering painful point of joy” was the essence of what he said in The Tree Where Man Was Born.
We will be visiting Maasai settlements and going on game drives in this incredibly diverse wildlife area from Tortilis Camp. The large, tranquil Tortilis acacia trees that give the camp its name provide a picturesque backdrop for our thatch-covered tents, which are both roomy and elegantly appointed. As Isak Dinesen described it, “pacing along as if they had an appointment at the end of the world” describes a procession of elephants, which we could imagine relaxing on our veranda and emulating.
Days 6 & 7 Classic game viewing at Lewa Safari Camp
Lewa Safari Camp, located on the Laikipia Plateau and offering breathtaking views of majestic Mount Kenya, is the crown gem of the illustrious Lewa Conservancy. This institution has laid the groundwork for successful conservation efforts in the past, and its work has helped protect many species and their habitats. Lewa is a haven for a diverse array of wildlife, with a variety of habitats that sustain predators and prey. It is also the site of the highest concentration of Grevy’s zebras on Earth, and the 130 black and white rhinos that wander freely about the park are a result of the tireless and creative work of the Conservancy. Classically breezy and effortlessly elegant are the thirteen thatched-roof tents at Lewa Safari Camp. Each room features a contemporary private bathroom and a spacious verandah that looks out over one of the most expansive and colorful African vistas.
Days 8 & 9 The great wildlife haven of the The Maasai Mara
Is a Masai Mara Safari Worth the Hype? (Honest Opinion)
We will be flying over the Great Rift Valley this morning, which John Gunther described as making “the Grand Canyon look like a line scratched with a toothpick” in Inside Africa, and then on to the Maasai Mara, which is located in the northern part of the Serengeti-Maasai Mara ecosystem, which is larger than Belgium. This ecosystem is without a doubt the best place on Earth to see large mammals, with over 70 species of these animals making their home in the oceanic grasslands of the Serengeti-Maasai Mara.
Game drives across the Mara, cultural exchanges with the indigenous Maasai, and excursions to see leviathan crocodiles and hippos in their natural habitats are all part of the itinerary, which departs from either the equally magnificent Bateleur Camp or Sir Richard Branson’s Mahali Mzuri. And we will sip sundowners in the mild evening warmth of the “real world” that Ms. Dinesen described in her letter to her mother, taking in its pure and innocent air as we watch the spectacular stars of Africa emerge to shine, and imagining that we may have dawdled here ten thousand years ago.
Day two of our Mara safari will include a hot-air balloon ride over the siringet, or “endless place” in Maasai, a vast expanse of land. Although this is an extra expense for most safaris, the Grand 15 Days Kenya And Tanzania Safari includes ballooning as part of its luxurious offerings. We will be little giddy with the beauty of the plain and our good fortune to be so welcomed and at ease in its presence as we savor a champagne breakfast at the end of the flight.
Days 10 & 11 The Serengeti, iconically vast and golden
Through Nairobi and Arusha in Tanzania, we will be able to reach the Serengeti. The great grassland, its riverine forests, and bustling, set-piece kopjes, rock islands that pop up from the plain, are home to three million or more large mammals. These mammals include elephants, cheetahs, gazelles by the gazillions, wildebeest, zebras, giraffes “floating across the plain” (thanks, Ms. Dinesen), lions, rhinos, and about sixty more species.
The Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti or the Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge will be our home for the two nights that we spend in the Serengeti. Perched on a picturesque cluster of kopjes, the Four Seasons offers a breathtaking panorama of daybreak skies “banded with rose and lemon and the colour of flamingo wings,” as described by Elspeth Huxley. The setting appears to stretch on forever, adding to the sense of wonder. The riverbank camp of Grumeti includes ten stylish tents, and it is teeming with enormous crocodiles and hippos—always heavier than we recall. The Bespoke African Safari Co. delights in introducing our tourists to these kinds of African destinations, which entice us to take it easy.
Days 12 & 13 The Lost World of the Ngorongoro Crater
You Won’t Believe What Happened on our Tanzania Safari (Ngorongoro Crater)
We take out from the picture-perfect Serengeti and head southeast to Lake Manyara, the one where thousands of flamingos burst in that thrilling scene from Out of Africa. A lot of people, including Ernest Hemingway, say that Manyara is the most beautiful lake in Africa. At the rejuvenating Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge, we will enjoy lunch while taking in breathtaking views of the lake. Afterwards, we may go for a stroll, during which we may see vibrant birds and local predators.
Continuing our journey, we ascend the picturesque Crater Highlands to reach the Ngorongoro Lodge Melia. This magnificent property is situated on the rain-forested rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most spectacular geographical features in our solar system.
By asking, “How did the hippopotamus find its way up into the Crater Highlands, to blunder into the waters of Ngorongoro?” Peter Matthiessen caught one of the crater’s mysteries in The Tree Where Man Was Born. In modern times, their presence surrounded by towering walls is a sight to behold. Walking aimlessly across the verdant caldera floor can make us feel like the protagonists from Arthur Conan Doyle’s suspense novel The Lost World, Professor George Edward Challenger and Lord John Roxton. We won’t be seeing any Aardonyxes or Zupaysauris, but as the old adage goes, “your old sadness at never having seen a dinosaur will be lightened” when you’ve genuinely looked at a rhino or thought the immense unlikeliness of an elephant.
Day 14 Back to Nairobi and onward
Our journey to Nairobi will begin after breakfast and a final glimpse of the verdant landscapes below. Upon arrival, we will take a flight to Lake Manyara. Upon arrival, we will check into our day room at the Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport, have some lunch, and then be driven to the airport for our late flights back to the Northern Hemisphere.
Day 15 Connect in Europe with homeward flights
…for flights home.

Paradise exists on the verdant, towering slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes. Even though the jungles here are alive with all sorts of sounds, the gentle mists that accompanied Dian Fossey while she penned her renowned book Gorillas in the Mist are still very much present. The elusive and majestic mountain gorilla is the same alluring creature that Dr. Diaz-Fossey found herself drawn to. This Rwandan extension to our safari begins and ends in five-star hotels, and on both occasions, we get up close and personal with these kindly giants.
