A Detailed 15 Days in Tanzania Itinerary

Days 1-2: Welcome to Tanzania | 2 Nights

Arusha, Tanzania

You will be transported to Rivertrees Country Lodge by vehicle upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Situated on the slopes of Mount Meru, the lodge is surrounded by verdant gardens, a forest, and pristine streams.

You can choose between walking and using a game-drive vehicle to explore Arusha National Park, depending on your time here. Another hidden treasure is the Lake Duluti Forest Reserve, with its verdant indigenous forests surrounding a crater lake. Take a canoe ride on its placid waters and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking vistas of Mount Meru for an afternoon.

Enjoy lounging by the pool or taking a magical walk through the forest to see and identify the incredible birds if you don’t feel like leaving the tranquil estate. Stop at one of the many picturesque locations along the Usa River to take in its natural beauty.

Days 3-5: Explore Tarangire | 3 Nights

Tarangire, Tanzania

Tarangire National Park, Tanzania

After stopping at a central Arusha market, your next destination is Tarangire National Park. Tarangire Ndovu Lodge is a tented safari lodge set in this untamed area, with ancient baobab trees as its backdrop, where you will spend the next three nights. On the first afternoon, you’ll go on an exciting game drive where you might see some of the safari’s most formidable animals, such as lions, leopards, and rhinos. Your guides will lead an interpretive presentation about the African star constellations when you get back to camp.

During your first two days in the park, you will learn about the baobabs and elephants, two of the “Giants of the Tarangire.” Your guides will also give you a crash course on wildlife photography. In addition, you will get the opportunity to explore the Silale Swamp, a vital component of the Tarangire ecosystem. Massive herbivore herds swarm the park in quest of this water, drawing in predators like lions, leopards, and endangered wild dogs, also known as painted wolves of Africa.

Days 6-7: Maasai Culture & The Ngorongoro Crater | 2 Nights

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

Your transfer to Karatu will begin after a delicious breakfast. On the way, you’ll stop at a local Maasai market to learn about this old culture and take some great pictures. At Plantation Lodge, your final destination for the day, you’ll be greeted with a wine tasting event and given an overview of the Ngorongoro region, including its inhabitants, elevation, fauna, and crater.

Frequently referred to as the “game lodge at the top of the world,” the 1,600-meter-high Plantation Lodge is located not far from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here you can see lions prowling the meadows, gigantic tusked elephants ambling through the woods, and endangered black rhinos wandering around the crater rim.

Days 8-9: Serengeti Sights

Serengeti – A Wildlife Photographer’s Guide

Nyikani Camp, the site of the Great Migration’s inception, is located in the heart of the Serengeti and will be your destination upon arrival. Anyone looking to “unplug” from the modern world and reconnect with nature would find this one-of-a-kind camp site to be ideal. In addition to learning interesting facts about the constellations, stargazing at this camp is a once in a lifetime chance to see the sky bathed in millions of stars.

Days 10-11: Photographic Safari | 2 Nights

Serengeti, Tanzania

Get up early and pack your bags because you’re going on a trek to Dunia Camp. As soon as you get to the campsite, there will be a gin tasting session where you will hear all about the migration, including its origins, development, ecology, predators, and conservation initiatives. The women-only safari camp Dunia is a source of motivation and inspiration. You can get a front-row seat to nature’s biggest show at the camp, which is open seasonally from March to June and November to December.

Days 12-13: The Great Migration | 1 Nights

Arusha, Tanzania

The Great Migration – Wildebeest Migration from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara, Crossing Mara River

Your journey to the Olakira Tented Camp in the northern Serengeti will begin with a transfer to the Seronera airfield in the morning, where you will board a charter flight. The famous Mara River crossings in the northern Serengeti are reserved for this safari camp’s annual migration between two breathtaking sites in the southern Serengeti.

Despite the presence of crocodiles and hippos, thousands of wildebeests dare to cross the water. In the midst of one of the world’s most renowned places, you will find yourself immersed in the African wilderness and its inhabitants while you relax in opulent tented accommodations. Also, you’ll be able to get a better feel for the nuances of this untouched landscape by going on a walking safari.

Day 14: Local Treasures

As you begin your journey back to Arusha, you will wake up among the Serengeti’s magnificent grasslands. Your transfer will terminate at Kogatende, from where you can catch an aircraft to Arusha.

A visit to a bustling downtown market will precede your second night’s stay at the peaceful Rivertrees Country Lodge. Your final night in Tanzania will be spent at Rivertrees after a filling meal.

Day 15: Bid Farewell to Tanzania

Your journey will commence at Arusha’s Kilimanjaro International Airport. Reflect on the friendships you made and the moments you will cherish as you recount the amazing journey. Will you be back soon?
