A Detailed 12 Days in Tanzania Itinerary
Days 1 – 2: The Gateway to Tanzania | 2 Nights
Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
Kambi ya Tembo, a traditional tented camp known for its breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru, is tucked away between Amboseli National Park and the Kenyan border. Following your drive from Arusha, you will be greeted with open arms at Kambi ya Tembo, where you will spend two nights in one of the 14 incredibly cosy tents.
It’s time to get to know one of those breathtaking vistas better on your second day. You will hike to the foot of Kili, the tallest free-standing peak in the world and the highest mountain in Africa, which is crowned by glaciers, with the help of a very informed Maasai guide. Enjoy the fresh air and pleasant sunshine while keeping an eye out for gentle plains wildlife.
Days 3 – 5: Finding Tarangire’s Elephants | 2 Nights
Tarangire, Tanzania
Tanzania’s Best Kept Secret – Tarangire
Your journey ends in Oliver’s Camp, located in the serene southeast corner of Tarangire National Park, after you return to Arusha by car today for your quick flight to the Kuro airstrip. Once more, you will be housed in large, cosy tents with outdoor showers—the perfect way to “be one” with nature!
On morning and evening game drives, visitors can see Tarangire’s abundant populations of elephants, birds, and predators. Under the careful supervision of a qualified guide, you will spend many joyful and tranquil hours trekking throughout Tarangire’s expansive plains on walking safaris, which are also a specialisation here.
Days 6 – 8: The World’s Largest Unbroken Caldera
As your driver departs for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Gibb’s Farm, a verdant coffee plantation only a half-hour’s drive from the crater, you say goodbye to Tarangire’s lovely park as you pass through the main gate. Every dish at Gibb’s Farm is delicious and nutritious since the kitchen is stocked with fresh produce directly from the garden, in addition to the best coffee you will probably ever taste. The African Living Spa offers traditional Maasai cures and treatments to ease any aches and pains from your climbs around Kilimanjaro and Tarangire, so that while your body is being nourished, your soul can be as well.
Enjoy a full-day journey to Lake Manyara National Park while visiting Gibb’s Farm for exceptional wildlife viewing in the diverse environments of this stunning reserve.
