We have joined forces with three illustrious preserves to offer you the chance to see wildlife in its most famous habitats: Tarangire National Park, where animals come to drink from the perennial Tarangire River, the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, and the legendary Serengeti, home to the largest concentration of land-dwelling animals on Earth. This 10 Days Tanzania Private Safari has it all: beautiful private camps in ideal settings, knowledgeable private naturalist guides, exhilarating game drives, fascinating bush walks, and Maasai culture. Detailed 10 Days Tanzania Private Safari Itinerary

Days 1-4: Arusha, Tanzania / Tarangire National Park

Better than the Serengeti?! Insane Tanzania Safari (Tarangire National Park)

Continue on to Tarangire, a sanctuary for animals, after spending the night in Arusha. As the lagoons dry up, eland, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest, and impala make their way through, while herds of 300 elephants probe the parched riverbed for hidden streams. It is the only location in Tanzania where dry-country antelope like the oryx and gerenuk may be seen frequently, and it has the highest concentration of animals outside of the Serengeti habitat. Activities include bush treks, night drives, and wildlife viewing in private 4WD vehicles.

Day 5 -6: Ngorongoro Crater

Located on the grassy floor of the 105-square-mile crater, Ngorongoro is home to Africa’s largest permanent concentration of wildlife—a veritable mini-Serengeti in an awe-inspiringly beautiful setting. Elephants, zebras, wildebeests, and buffalo are all possible sightings on your adventures, and the crater floor is the best spot on Earth to observe lion prides in action. Also, researchers are keeping a close eye on the twelve black rhinos that were introduced to the crater setting, making it one of the best spots to witness these endangered animals.

Days 7-10: Serengeti / Serengeti Migration Camp

The Great Migration – Wildebeest Migration from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara, Crossing Mara River

Immerse yourself in the Serengeti on a four-wheel-drive safari for three days, away from the crowds and the rest of the park’s amenities. Game drives at dawn or in the late afternoon take you to a variety of areas, depending on the weather and the species you’re hunting, from river habitats to broad grasslands and rock kopjes. The resident species of the Serengeti includes giraffe, buffalo, topi, hartebeest, waterbuck, impala, reedbuck, bushbuck, dikdik, hippocampus, crocodile, warthog, and a variety of birds. You should also encounter large numbers of zebras and wildebeests on their migration. Here you can find spotted hyena tribes and large prides of lions. Roomy, custom-designed walk-in tents with adjacent bathrooms and open-air hot showers are available at our exclusive, remote mobile camp. Each tent has a queen or twin bed with linens and a duvet. On the tenth day, set out from Arusha.

Weather

Because to its proximity to the equator, Tanzania experiences relatively mild seasonal temperature swings. East Africa experiences the coldest months in June, July, and August, with lows of about 40° and highs of about 70–80°F. For those chilly mornings and evenings in Ngorongoro and the Serengeti during these months, it’s a good idea to carry an extra jumper, down vest or long pants. With lows of 65° and highs of 75°-85°F, September, October, and November are the warmest months. The dust is helped to settle by the scattered showers that fall in November and early December. Daytime highs of 80–90°F and cooler nights of 50–60°F characterize the East African summer (December–March). Stay away from the rain in April and May. The weather in Zanzibar is perfect for a vacation—warm and sunny all year round with the exception of the wet months of April and May. Sea breezes keep daytime temperatures in the 75–85°F range.
