A Detailed 10-Day Botswana Okavango Delta & Mozambique Beach

Day 1-2: Heart of the Moremi | 2 Nights

Your journey starts with a flight from Johannesburg to Maun, Botswana. From there, you’ll transfer to a charter flight that will take you to Camp Moremi, a beautiful tented bush camp in Moremi Game Reserve. Camp Moremi is located on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, which is a part of the permanent wetlands of the Okavango Delta. Here, you’ll spend the next two nights enjoying nature at its finest.

Take a boat, 4×4 vehicle, or mokoro (a native dugout canoe) out into the breathtaking Okavango Delta, then have dinner on the deck while watching the sun go down.

Thanks to its varied mix of habitats, the Okavango Delta, one of Africa’s great wildlife regions, boasts a diverse environment. Classic African mammals like lions, elephants, buffalo, and leopards, as well as aquatic species like crocodiles and hippos, are all doing quite well. The general game viewing is excellent year-round, and the bird watching is out of this world.

Days 3-4: An Island Lodge in the Okavango Delta | 2 Nights

After breakfast, you will be transferred by boat to Xugana Island Lodge, an iconic property nestled under a majestic tree canopy, along the meandering waters of the Okavango Delta. Lunch is on the house, and then it’s off on a game drive across the world’s largest inland delta, which transforms into a sunset drive as you make your way back to camp after sundowner cocktails.

The following day, you can go bird watching, on a guided nature walk, or take another relaxing mokoro ride to learn more about the area. After another game drive in the late afternoon, go home in the early evening while keeping an eye out for the nocturnal animals that are beginning to stir in the Delta.

Day 5: Fly to Johannesburg | 1 Nights

Xugana Island Lodge will be your departure point for a charter aircraft to Maun this morning. The aerial views of the Delta are breathtaking, so be sure to bring your camera. In Maun, change to a flight that is scheduled to depart for Johannesburg. A private vehicle will transport you to Melrose’s The Peech Hotel once you arrive.

In the evening, unwind by the pool or go out to nearby Rosebank or Sandton, two trendy areas with an abundance of restaurants, shops, and nightlife options.

Day 6-9: Indian Ocean Island Bliss | 4 Nights

Your flight to Vilanculos, Mozambique, is scheduled to depart from OR Tambo International Airport after breakfast. From there, take a helicopter ride to Benguerra Island’s breathtaking Azura. You have the remainder of the day to relax and discover this gorgeous beachfront lodging.

Take advantage of the following three days to see Azura in all its glory. Unwind on powdery white beaches, try scuba diving at some of Africa’s top attractions, or spend some time island hopping in the breathtaking Bazaruto Archipelago.

Enjoy a tasty seafood barbecue or some Western fare on the beach in the evenings.

Day 10: Tour Ends in Johannesburg

Return to Vilanculos Airport via helicopter after breakfast for your departure to Johannesburg. Once you reach the City of Gold, your tour will come to a close.
