Activities At Nasikia Migration Camp

The endeavours at Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp are focused on wildlife observation in Serengeti National Park, specifically tracking the Great Migration herds.

  • Game drives: Game drives are conducted by knowledgeable guides and occur in the morning and late afternoon. The Serengeti habitat sustains an exceptional wildlife population, encompassing all Big Five species. From June onwards, one can anticipate witnessing substantial herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle migrating northward towards the Mara River. In December, the herds migrate to the Ndutu region, inhabiting the short-grass plains of southern Serengeti until March. The abundance of herbivores inherently draws several predators year-round, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as a variety of smaller species, notably diverse avian life. We may also provide picnic lunches for individuals desiring to spend an entire day observing wildlife.
  • Walking safaris: Due to Nasikia’s location within Serengeti National Park, direct walking from the camp is not feasible. Nonetheless, with advance notification, we can organise brief nature hikes led by an armed ranger. The minimum age for participation in walking activities is 12 years.
  • Hot air ballooning: Hot air balloons offer a unique opportunity to ascend into the skies and float above the magnificent Serengeti grasslands. The balloon ascends before sunrise, providing a minimum of one hour in the air to survey the Serengeti and its fauna prior to descending for a sumptuous meal.

Note: This property is unfenced and situated in a wildlife region, allowing huge and potentially hazardous animals to traverse the vicinity. If you want to remain here, remain vigilant while traversing the camp and solicit a staff member to accompany you if you have any apprehensions. All guests are accompanied after dusk as a standard procedure.

Serengeti Safaris

The Serengeti, renowned for the Great Wildebeest Migration, is also the habitat of the Big 5. This annual show involves millions of wildebeest, accompanied by gazelles and zebras, migrating in search of greener pastures while evading predators.

Their circuitous trip proceeds south into the Serengeti, then westward, subsequently north into the Maasai Mara, before returning to the origin. Predators stealthily follow, seizing opportunities to strike, rendering this voyage replete with thrilling wildlife encounters.

The Serengeti is poised for dramatic events, featuring diverse terrain that includes volcanic grasslands, expansive plains, rocky outcrops, meandering rivers, and woodlands.
