A Family 7-Day Botswana Khwai River And Linyanti Channel

The Khwai River and Linyanti Channel are premier, often-combined Botswana safari destinations offering exceptional, exclusive wildlife viewing, particularly for predators and elephants. Khwai (Moremi border) features lily-covered waterways and mopane woodlands known for African wild dogs, while the remote Linyanti (northern Chobe) offers dramatic riverfront scenery, large elephant herds, and high-end, private concessions.

Canoeing, night game drives, and walking safaris are just a few of the exciting activities that will be part of this unforgettable trip for families with children older than seven who are looking for an adventurous getaway.

You will spend three nights in a roomy family house at Khwai Leadwood after a scenic flight from Maun to the Khwai River in the northern Delta. Following that, you will be transported by air to Chobe National Park’s Linyanti Channel for an additional three nights of thrilling and genuine safari in this portion of Botswana known for its abundance of elephants.

Moremi Game Reserve, on the other hand, is the sole officially protected and conserved section of the enchanting Okavango Delta, and the Khwai River serves as its boundary. The reserve is famous for its great and reliable sightings of wild dogs. The migrating birds, little frogs, and odd animals, including as the antelope lechwe and sitatunga, which have adapted to life in the wetlands of Southern Africa, will be pointed out by your camp guide. Travelling from camp to camp also gives you a bird’s-eye view of Botswana, which is great for taking in the vastness and variety of the Okavango.

A Detailed 7-Day Botswana Khwai River And Linyanti Channel

Days 1 – 3: From Maun to Khwai River | 3 Nights

We will meet you and your family at Maun Airport and take a light plane to Khwai Leadwood in Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve. This area is famous for its fantastic sightings of wild dogs. Because of the increasing interest in these lively and often misunderstood black-and-gold canids, packs of wild dogs have been steadily expanding, putting them in danger of extinction.

A network of wooden pathways links the elevated tents at this camp, which is situated in a leadwood and fig woodland beside the Khwai River. With furnishings reminiscent of the romantic age of Hemingway’s safaris, your tent exudes an air of total seclusion.

During your time here, you will have much to do, from the usual game drives into Moremi to binocular birdwatching, night drives to see animals at night, and visiting a local town to meet the friendly locals. On exciting nature hikes, your guide will also take you to see animals like giraffes and antelopes munching away in peace.

Days 4 – 6: From Khwai River to Linyanti | 3 Nights

Returning to the airfield for the brief flight to the Linyanti Channel is imminent, and we will soon say farewell to the welcoming personnel at Khwai Leadwood. The Saile Airstrip is the starting point for a family road journey to the little camp of Linyanti Ebony, which is located close to the verdant Caprivi Strip and has just four tents. The spacious family tent awaits you once again; this time, it features an en suite bathroom with a tub, perfect for relaxing in after a day of strolling the safari. You can even “wallow” in the pool during the hot African afternoons, just like the local hippos.

You will also get the opportunity to explore the wetlands of the magnificent Linyanti Channel during your stay here. The conventional method to see the Delta is on a mokoro (traditional canoe) journey, and there is a stable raptor population to be discovered.

By providing a place to charge your camera’s batteries, Linyanti Ebony lets you “get away from it all” by eliminating the need for Wi-Fi and cell phones. You and your loved ones will be able to return to Maun for your journey home feeling entirely rejuvenated after three nights of utter seclusion, interrupted only by the enchanting sound of a fish eagle’s call or a breathtaking dawn.

Day 7: Homeward Bound

After breakfast on your last morning, you will be taken to Maun Airport by charter flight to continue your travel plans. Please come back soon; we’d love to have you!
