Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya

Greetings from Nairobi! When you arrive, a member of the Kabira Safaris Africa staff is waiting for you. Your journey’s first stop is a reminder of an earlier Kenya. Giraffe Manor is a luxurious residence with a brick and ivy alfresco area that is surrounded by 140 acres of indigenous forest and lush gardens in the Langata neighborhood of Nairobi. It serves as both a human oasis and an unexpected visitor.

Included Activities

The Rothschild giraffe herd that lives on the land is drawn to The Manor. These curious canines frequently visit the Manor to observe what the people are doing. This is an unrivaled chance to interact with one of Africa’s most cherished animals because there are only about 1,500 Rothschild giraffes surviving in the wild.

Day 2: Transfer to Laikipia

The journey has begun. As you board the helicopter to be dropped off in a remote area of Laikipia that is off-limits to automobiles, feel your heart rate increase. Even though Laikipia is a less-traveled area of Kenya, the abundance of plains animals there makes it a top safari destination. The area is also popular with wild dogs. This is not your typical safari. A 3-day Horseback Safari in Kenya into the wilderness will begin at the point where you disembark. Expert tour guides and a nomad camp pulled by camels will be waiting for you at the drop-off location. Be prepared. You’ll be tested by the hike.

Included Activities

As you embark on your tour by helicopter, explore the Laikipia countryside from above. Enjoy a drink and the sunset over the African savanna when you arrive at the drop-off location.

Day 3 – 4: Horseback Safari, Trek through Laikipia Plains

Being a part of the jungle is the finest way to feel alive there. You can stop being an observer and take an active role in the safari thanks to your horse. You’ll keep riding through Samburu territory throughout the course of the following two days. Large expanses of grassland that are green and yellow transition to rocky outcrops that are scattered with the silhouettes of acacia trees. You will become more aware of the nuances of this ecology as you ride for a longer period of time. As you get closer to the various plains game, you’ll start to see signs of wildlife there before you and get to know them. You won’t be able to go as close to Grevy’s zebra, buffalo, impala, and other animals without disturbing them in any other encounter. In Laikipia, people and the environment are intricately interwoven. You’ll find that the Samburu way of life is similar to that of the wildlife when you go through Samburu country. This dynamic and nomadic community travels in quest of water and has developed close ties with what appears to be a sparsely resourced environment. They even use elephants to find subsurface water sources. The nature of this adventure will enable you to form bonds with the local guides and members of the Samburu tribe in a way that typical tourists just cannot.

Included Activities

On horseback, experience the Samburu‘s valleys, peaks, trails, and animals. You’ll encounter the wilderness more closely than ever thanks to your mobile camp.

Ol Malo, which is co-run by Samburu, has a long history of valuing harmony with the environment, blurring the boundaries between extravagance and morality. Spend a moment relaxing. You deserve it. If you still have the energy, go on a 4×4 game drive or a guided bush walk to look for animals that you might not have seen on your ride. As an alternative, fly to the Suguta Valley and Lake Turkana, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, on a helicopter ride. This saltwater body also called the Jade Sea, is the biggest dry lake in the world. Unique fossil discoveries are abundant in the region.
