Thanda Island is situated 33 kilometres east of the Tanzanian coastline, within the Shungimbili Island Marine Reserve, Tanzania’s largest designated marine conservation area, located north of Mafia Island. Guests arrive at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, where the Jumeirah Thanda Island crew provides a VIP concierge service for customs and immigration. Up to eight guests can reach the property in an Airbus EC 155 B twin-engine helicopter in 25 minutes. Alternatively, 12-passenger fixed-wing aircraft can land at Mafia Island, followed by a 30-minute boat journey or a 10-minute helicopter fly to Thanda.
