Documents

American citizens are required to keep their passports valid for a minimum of six months beyond the date of their intended return from Egypt. Additionally, you’ll need to show evidence that you want to go back or keep travelling. Please check that your passport is up-to-date and that the name on it matches the one on all of your other travel documents that we will provide you. As soon as you notice that your name appears differently on any document, please inform us.

Visas

Entering and leaving Egypt both necessitate a visa. One is available at the Cairo Airport. Upon request, we can incorporate the associated visa fees and revenues into your itinerary. Exiting Egypt requires a stamp on a valid passport as evidence of entrance. Egyptian authorities may refuse to let you depart the country unless you produce this stamp.

Insurance

Clothing for women

Typically, women visiting Egypt are allowed to wear clothing that falls below the knee. Also acceptable are short sleeves, as long as they are neither too long nor too short. In Egypt, covering your head is not required, but you should still dress modestly. Choose a length of skirt or trousers. Wearing loose-fitting trousers instead of thin jeans will be more comfortable during the hot summer months. White clothes will show filth and grime significantly more quickly than clothes of other colours because dust is also present.

Electricity, Internet and Phone

The voltage in Egypt is 220 volts alternating current. In certain remote places, the electrical outlets only contain 110V AC. You can use a “Type E” or “Type F” Schuko plug, or a “Type C” Europlug. For North American devices, you’ll have to buy an adaptor. Plugs labelled “For Shavers Only” or 110V won’t charge or power items that aren’t 110V capable.

Be careful to contact your phone provider in each country you want to visit to find out how much roaming will cost, as rates vary from one carrier to another.
Numerous Internet cafes offering WiFi and wired network connections can be found in major towns including Dahab, Luxor, Cairo, and Alexandria. Siwa is one of the tiny towns that offer an Internet cafe. You should research the hotel’s costs before connecting to their WiFi, as it can be costly. Weather

There are extremely rainy regions in Egypt and very arid ones. Arid and scorching weather is what you can expect. If you happen to visit the northern regions during the winter, be prepared for cold weather. The winter months (December–February) see the highest volume of visitors.

In terms of weather, the months of February through April and October through November are ideal for seeing the Valley of the Kings and the pyramids. because to winds coming in from the Sahara, visiting sites in April might be a bit of a challenge because to the high temperatures and dust.

Money

The “Egyptian Pound” (meaning “guinay” in Arabic) is the name of Egypt’s currency. The various denominations of notes are 5pt, 10pt, 25pt, 50pt, E£1, E£5, E£10, E£20, E£50, and E£100. Pounds, twenty-five pence, fifty pence, and one euro are the denominations of the coins. The only currencies accepted by some travel operators and hotels are US dollars and Euros.

Before you go, withdraw Egyptian Pounds from your bank or use an ATM in Egypt. You can get better deals using those ways than at the airport or at a tourist hotspot. Although most places take Visa and Mastercard, the validity of your bank card in the nation can be an issue.

Vaccinations

Visiting Egypt does not necessitate any immunisations at this time.
The avian virus, also known as “Bird Flu,” has made its appearance in Egypt. Our advice is that you:

Medicines

You should pack extra prescription drugs and eyeglasses in your checked and carry-on bags just in case.

It can be challenging to get prescription medication or eyewear in Egypt, but there are over-the-counter, non-prescription options. If you want to be prepared in case bottled water is unavailable, bring a water purifying device or iodine tablets. We can let you know where you can find both drinkable and non-drinking water. It is highly advised to bring an over-the-counter remedy for diarrhoea.
