7-Day Okavango Delta, Savute & Chobe Botswana Itinerary
A 7-Day Okavango Delta, Savute & Chobe Botswana Itinerary. With a focus on large game viewing, this 7-day safari visits three of Botswana’s best game viewing areas: the Chobe River section of Chobe National Park, the Savute region, and the world-famous Okavango Delta.
In the Okavango Delta, you may relax on the rivers while engaging in land and water activities in a wildlife-rich setting. Then, take a plane to Chobe National Park to see some of the best game viewing in Southern Africa.
If you’re looking for a somewhere to stay in Chobe National Park, the only permanent riverside resort, consider Chobe Game resort. Savute is home to all the big predators and is noted for the violent conflicts between lions and hyenas. In the dry season, which lasts from June to October, you will see more animals than in any other time of year, including some of Africa’s most majestic elephants.
A Detailed 7-Day Okavango Delta, Savute & Chobe Itinerary
Days 1-2: Explore the Scenic Delta Waterways | 2 Nights
Upon touching down at Botswana’s Maun Airport, you’ll be whisked away to one of two world-class hotels, Camp Okavango or Camp Moremi, for an unforgettable safari experience.
While Camp Okavango is known for its water activities including canoeing, walking safaris, and boating, Camp Moremi is known for its game drives in a particularly rewarding area of the Moremi Game Reserve. Both campgrounds offer excellent opportunities for bird viewing, and you’ll have plenty of downtime to really appreciate this famous site.
Days 3-4: See Predators in Savuti | 2 Nights
You will be greeted and taken to Savute Safari Lodge in the Savute section of Chobe National Park today after your scheduled air charter trip. Here, you can go on game drives in the morning and afternoon accompanied by knowledgeable rangers.
Lions and spotted hyenas, two predatory species that frequently engage in kill-and-run conflicts, inhabit Savute in the remote and wild central region of Chobe.
Elephants, a variety of antelope, giraffes, zebras, and fantastic birdwatching are just a few of the iconic savannah wildlife that may be seen here, along with leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, and black-backed jackals. You can see some of the country’s top games on the now-running Savute Channel.
Days 5-6: Search for Chobe’s Elephants | 2 Nights
Travel to Kasane Airport by light aircraft, then continue by road to Chobe Game Lodge, situated on the banks of the Chobe River in Botswana’s world-famous Chobe National Park, a top safari destination in Africa.
During the severe dry season (June to October), the elephant herds in Chobe River Valley, which is home to Africa’s biggest concentration of elephants, move in large numbers to the river’s floodplains and woods, where food is abundant. You can go bird viewing like nowhere else in Southern Africa, and you can also see crocodiles, lions, buffalo, and hippos.
On your morning and afternoon game drives, be on the lookout for rarer species like roan antelope, wild dog, and sable. Don’t miss out on the chance to go on a water activity – small motorboats are perfect for game viewing, and a sunset cruise on a huge riverboat is a must-do in Chobe.
Day 7: Travel Back to Kasane
Today, after breakfast, you will be driven to Kasane Airport to connect with your next aircraft after your departure from Chobe Game Lodge.
