Easy as pie, this 9-Day Botswana fly-in safari visits three of Botswana’s best wildlife viewing locations. Before descending into Chobe National Park’s renowned Savute region—one of Africa’s “Predator Capitals”—from the Okavango Delta and the abundant Moremi Game Reserve, you begin your journey.

For a few days, you’ll be able to paddle about the Okavango Delta’s permanent wetlands, take guided nature hikes, fish, and watch birds. The next few days will be devoted to game drives in a Moremi Game Reserve area that is known for its abundant wildlife, located on the outskirts of the Okavango Delta.

Days 1-3: Explore the Okavango Delta | 3 Nights

Xugana Island Lodge is a five-star safari camp in the Okavango Delta, located on a private concession. Upon arrival at Maun Airport in Botswana, you will be greeted and escorted to a light aircraft charter for the flight to the camp. The lodge is situated on the banks of Xugana Lagoon, a serene body of water that guarantees year-round water sports and is generally considered the most beautiful permanent water site in the whole Delta. Explore Xugana’s concession on a mokoro (traditional canoe) or motorboat while on a guided walking safari. Amazing bird watching, a plethora of wildlife, and fishing for tiger and bream are all on the menu.

Days 4-6: View Wildlife in the Moremi | 3 Nights

Camp Moremi is located in the Moremi Game Reserve, and you’ll be flying there shortly after breakfast at Xugana. Mopane woodlands, open grasslands, seasonal floodplains, and aquatic habitats have come together to make one of the most beautiful and satisfying wildlife sanctuaries in Africa at the point where the life-giving waters of the Okavango Delta meet the enormous Kalahari sands.

Embark on morning and afternoon wildlife drives led by knowledgeable naturalists from Camp Moremi, which is situated on the shores of the permanent Xakanaxa Lagoon. You may go bird watching at any time of year, with a motorboat ride to the Gadikwe heronry being the cherry on top. And let’s not forget about the amazing game viewing. The area is well-known for its abundance of elephants, buffalo, and several types of antelope, as well as its abundance of predators, particularly lions, leopards, and wild dogs.

Days 7-8: Experience the Savute | 2 Nights

After you have breakfast, go aboard a plane heading north to the Chobe National Park’s Savute district, where you’ll stay at Savute Safari Lodge and gaze out over the banks of the Savute Channel, which is now flowing. The area is home to ancient camelthorn trees.

The abundance of elephants, including both permanent residents and seasonal visitors, has made this region famous. The spotted hyena clans and big lion prides that inhabit Savute are well-known for their frequent conflicts over prey. The area is home to a variety of huge predators, including cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, and jackals.

The general game viewing at Savute, including tsessebe, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, and buffalo, is excellent year-round. However, it is most enjoyable during the verdant summer months (approximately December to April), when tens of thousands of zebra stop by on their way to the southern grazing fields of the remote Mababe Depression, and they return to the Linyanti wetlands around February.

Savute is already home to 300 different species of birds, but with the arrival of thousands of migrant birds, the rains make it an even better place to go birding.

Day 9: Bid Farewell to Botswana!

Enjoy your final meal at Savute Safari Lodge before catching a short plane back to Maun Airport to continue your journey.
