This Warm Heart Safari Itinerary is perfect for individuals who want to see the country.

Malawi A Warm Heart Safari

The landlocked nation of Malawi, sometimes called the “Warm Heart of Africa,” stretches along the Great Rift Valley’s extreme western edge. Lake Malawi, the third-largest lake in Africa, dominates the landscape, which is breathtakingly gorgeous.

The Warm Heart Safari begins at the breathtaking Mkulumadzi Lodge in the Majete Wildlife Reserve, where two rivers meet. Among the many conservation triumphs in Africa, the Reserve stands out. It was vulnerable to heavy poaching in the ’80s and ’90s after being designated a protected species in 1955. However, it has become a prime example of sustainable development and biodiversity because to a combined effort by the African Parks Network and the Malawian government since 2003. This includes the reintroduction of endangered species. Today, tourists may see a wide variety of animals, including zebras, elephants, rhinos, antelopes, buffalo, lions, and giraffes.

An additional success story from African Parks, the pristine Liwonde National Park comes up next. This park offers the ideal safari hideaway, with its abundance of activities and peaceful surroundings, so visitors can relax and enjoy themselves. Kuthengo Camp is tucked away among fever trees and baobabs on a wide open plain in Liwonde National Park that stretches towards the Shire River. With some of the most picturesque game viewing, lovely riverine environs, and varied bird watching one could ask for, this park is renowned as one of the best spots in Southern Africa to go birding. The park’s robust elephant population enjoys the floodplains of the Shire River, which make up a large portion of the landscape. You will be roused to “Africa’s voice” when you awaken in this untamed and natural haven, where fish eagles nest in the Baobabs. Liwonde is home to a wide variety of animals, including crocodiles, elephants, rhinos, lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, antelopes, and hippos.

Pumulani Lodge is a subtle hideaway in the verdant hills, surrounded by forests and rocky outcrops, on the western side of the Nankumba Peninsula, at the southern end of Lake Malawi. Here is the ideal way to round off your Warm Heart Safari experience: by enjoying some physical activity or just relaxing in the serene surroundings. Scuba diving, kayaking, birding, sailing, mountain biking, snorkeling, and cultural visits to neighboring communities are just a few of the activities available here.

Within Majete Wildlife Reserve, at the point where the Shire and Mkulumadzi Rivers meet, is Mkulumadzi Lodge. Morning and afternoon game drives are available for guests to enjoy as part of their game viewing activities, while evening drives go well into the night, allowing them to see the park in all its glory. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, and a plethora of birds along the verdant Shire banks. If the weather is nice, guests at Mkulumadzi Lodge should spend the night out on the star deck to really take in their environment.

Day 4 – 5: Kuthengo Camp

A once-in-a-lifetime experience in Liwonde National Park

Kuthengo Camp, a quaint little lodge in Liwonde National Park, comes up next on your itinerary. No two safaris are ever the same because each day brings its own surprises. However, to maximize your time in the park, it’s best to get an early start so you can see the animals at their most active. Game drives let you see more of the area, and those that start in the afternoon and go into the early evening let you see animals at night. Kuthengo Camp offers boat safaris on the Shire River throughout the year, which is always a delight. Wildlife such as crocodiles, hippos, elephants, antelopes, klipspringers, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs, cheetahs, and lions call this park their home. It is not uncommon to see kudu, hartebeest, roan, and black rhino at Liwonde. You can relax in the plunge pool, take in the breathtaking views from your private deck, or participate in one of the many safari activities available to you.

Day 6 – 8: Pumulani Lodge

Since this is the final leg of the Warm Heart Safari, you are free to do as little or as much as you like during this time of leisure. Immersed in the beauty of Lake Malawi National Park, Pumulani Lodge occupies a secluded spot on the western coast of the Nankumba Peninsula. Over the next several days, you are free to engage in as many or as few activities as you like. If you’re looking for a secluded spot to relax and swim in the lake, our beach is perfect for you. One infinity pool is located on beach level, while another is close to the main dining area and offers breathtaking views of the lake; both pools are perfect for those who prefer to cool down in the pool.
