SaSaab Camp | Luxury Eco-Lodge | Samburu, Mount Kenya

Overview of SaSaab Camp Kenya, Samburu

In the Samburu National Reserve of Kenya, a conservation area famous for its mixture of classic savannah animals and some of northern Kenya’s more unusual species, sits SaSaab Camp, a tented camp inspired by Morocco. The camp is set above the Uaso Nyiro River and looks out over the Samburu plains towards Mount Kenya.

Enjoy guided riverside nature walks and game drives in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Back at camp, unwind on Moroccan-style cushions before taking a plunge in either the communal pool or your very own private Jacuzzi.

SaSaab Camp has won a slew of awards for its eco-friendly initiatives and community outreach programs, such as its reusable water bottle program, which has cut plastic waste by 85 percent, its recycling system, and its “save a bucket” idea, which harvests guests’ refreshing shower water for use in the flourishing kitchen garden.

SaSaab Camp Luxury Eco-Lodge

Situated on the banks of a river, Sasaab’s architecture takes the African heat into account through a fusion of Swahili and Moroccan design principles. With individual plunge pools and breathtaking views across the Laikipia Plateau into the jagged slopes of Mount Kenya, each of the eleven rooms with canvas sides is over 100m². Its elevated location above the river makes it an ideal vantage point for animal viewing, including the herds of elephants that descend to the riverbank for a swim.

For the pinnacle of Samburu safaris, stay at the magnificent Sasaab eco-lodge. Mountians, animals, and a wealth of cultural history dot the terrain of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District, which is located just outside Samburu National Reserve. Elephants, cheetahs, wild dogs, and the ‘Samburu Special Five‘—the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich—are just a few of the incredible animals that call this area home.

The cuisine at SaSaab Camp follows the Moroccan theme by using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients with a distinct Moroccan flair.

Dishes are brought out to various sections of the mess tent or even outside under the sky.
