10-Day Cape Town, Kruger & Victoria Falls Itinerary

An 10-day itinerary through Cape Town, Kruger National Park, and Victoria Falls offers a perfect balance of urban culture, “Big Five” wildlife, and natural wonders. This route typically begins in the coastal beauty of Cape Town, continues to the premier safari landscapes of South Africa, and concludes at the majestic waterfalls on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The cosmopolitan city of Cape Town, known for its excellent restaurants, world-famous wineries, and award-winning beaches, is the starting point for our 10-day itinerary. Then, make your way north to Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, a vast and unspoiled environment that is home to the Big 5, where you can see the fabled leopards.

The Victoria Falls, named after the 19th-century explorer David Livingstone and recognised as a Natural Wonder of the World, are located in Zimbabwe and may be experienced firsthand after a game viewing safari. Spending on this vacation over the holidays helps support important community programs that are supported by the MORE Community Fund. An incredible opportunity to have a positive impact on the communities you visit.

A Detailed 10-Day Cape Town, Kruger & Victoria Falls Itinerary

Day 1-4: Cape Town: The Mother City | 4 Nights

Reach South Africa’s Mother City, Cape Town, a vibrant metropolis known for its global culture. Your home base for exploring all that Cape Town has to offer is the Cape Cadogan. The charming metropolitan neighbourhood of Gardens is home to this exceptional owner-managed property.

You can walk to the city’s top restaurants, shops, pubs, and beaches from Cape Cadogan. Indulge in the lively downtown area or unwind in the tranquillity of your suite, all while enjoying the warm, personalised service that accompanies the hotel’s calm and stylish ambiance. Cape Point and Table Mountain are great day trips for adventurers.

The V&A Waterfront is a first-rate retail paradise, and attractions like the National Gallery, Natural History Museum, Planetarium, and the charming Company’s Gardens are just around the corner. Other nearby attractions include award-winning beaches and the ancient Houses of Parliament. Summertime picnics and outdoor concerts at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden are beloved traditions, and visiting the neighbouring Cape Winelands for a wine sampling is an event that deserves its fame.

Cape Cadogan has partnered with Mfuleni and the Injongo Educare Crèche in Cape Town to assist their MORE Community Fund. The trip’s community visit is a great opportunity to meet the inspiring people behind this amazing initiative as well as the intelligent youngsters enrolled in the crèche. The tour will also take you around the thriving Langa settlement, where you can see the Langa Heritage Museum, the Guga Sithebe Arts & Culture Centre, which helps locals feel more empowered, and the Langa Quarter, where the IKhaya Le Langa Project is building a community hub and welcoming visitors.

Day 5-7: A Private Reserve in Kruger | 3 Nights

Following breakfast, you will be whisked away to Skukuza Airport for a short flight. From there, you will be comfortably transported to Lion Sands River Lodge, located in the world-famous Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. The Sabi Sands are 2.7 million hectares of protected vegetation and wildlife, bordering the world-renowned Kruger National Park. One of the most biodiverse wildlife populations in Africa is a result of the free movement of animals between the two areas. The Lion Sands region has been cared for by the same family for three generations, and they are honoured to have you visit the wild place they love.

An experienced ranger and tracker will take you on game drives in the morning and late afternoon every day. Meet not only the Big 5, but also other uncommon animals, such as cheetahs and wild dogs. The reserve’s unmatched record for the regularity of leopard sightings is the main attraction.
The abundant meal is well appreciated when returning to the lodge after a morning departure through the early morning mists. The ideal digestion, of course, is a guided bush walk, which gives you a new, up-close view of nature. You can unwind completely on an African afternoon by lounging by the pool, taking in the scenery of the Sabi River from your room, or treating yourself to a spa treatment at Lalamuka.

Huntington and Jessica B. are two neighbouring communities where you can participate in MORE Community Fund-supported programs and events. The Huntington Digital Campus and the Jabez Preschool will also be visited as part of this. There will be information about local initiatives that are working to get clean water to people’s homes.

Day 8-9: Victoria Falls: A Grand Lady | 2 Nights

At the lodge, a driver will be waiting to transfer you to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, where you can board a trip to Livingstone, Zambia, also known as Victoria Falls. To get to a private game reserve in Zimbabwe, all it takes is a short road transfer over the border. Your two-night stay at the Stanley & Livingstone Boutique Hotel is conveniently located near the breathtaking Victoria Falls. The hotel is a pleasant synthesis of the modern and the historic, paying homage to the legacy of the Victorian explorers Stanley and Livingstone while providing guests with modern conveniences like air conditioning and private terraces.

As a mild introduction to the Falls, a leisurely walk along “The Smoke That Thunders” is ideal. Canoeing on the Upper Zambezi, white-water rafting, or bungee jumping are some options for those seeking a bit more excitement. A breathtaking helicopter ride on the “Flight of Angels” is something you should definitely do. Just a short drive away is The Elephant Hills Resort’s 18-hole championship course, perfect for golfers.

Sail along the Zambezi River as the sun sets over Africa. As the sky takes on a kaleidoscope of brilliant, blazing hues, you can sip a sundowner while hippos sing you a song over the muted roar of the Falls. One safari tradition that will never go out of style is the sundowner cruise.

Embark on a moving community tour that will bring you to the edge of Victoria Falls National Park, where the residents of the Woodlands confront formidable obstacles in their relentless pursuit of a better life. Approximately 170 students at Masuwe Primary School are resolute in their pursuit of education despite the obstacles posed by the school’s inadequate facilities and limited financial resources. Guests are welcome to witness the progress being made by the MORE Community Fund in enhancing this resilient community school. They will also get the opportunity to meet the instructors and learners.

Day 10: A Fond Farewell To Africa

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Africa and head to Victoria Falls International Airport for your next destination or home. Relive the thrill of seeing a leopard for the first time by closing your eyes and letting your heart rate increase. Your heart races as you watch it hunt, its muscles clenching for a lethal leap, its unique fur rippling, and you feel conflicted between feeling sorry for its prey and admiring its courageous beauty. Among the fortunate few, you can recall the exotic flavours of Cape cuisine, the exquisite perfection of the Winelands, the raging splendour of the Smoke that Thunders, and the brilliant light of an African sunset.
