A Detailed 8-Day Kenya Family Safari
Days 1-2: Your African Adventure Begins | 1 Nights
Staying in Nairobi for one night will kick off your African experience. You will be greeted and transported to the adjacent Four Points Sheraton hotel in Nairobi once your flight lands at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Here you may relax and unwind after your travels. You can make use of the on-site rooftop restaurant, fitness facility, spa, and outdoor pool.
A private vehicle will take you from the hotel to the domestic Wilson Airport after a relaxing evening. The trip to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy would take about 40 minutes. Upon your arrival, a guide from Ol Pejeta Bush Camp will be waiting to take you on a game drive to your luxurious lodge. Following a hearty welcome, retire to your eco-friendly, en-suite tent and relax while you take in the scenery and the sounds of nature.
After a hearty lunch by the river, you’ll have the afternoon to explore the bush on a wildlife drive. Renowned as a sanctuary for a wide variety of animals, visitors can look forward to thrilling sightings—including the Big Five—during safaris.
Days 2-5: Game Viewing Galore | 3 Nights
Participate on educational excursions in the morning and afternoon led by experienced educators. An early game drive and, if you’re game, a chance to test drive an electric, carbon-neutral vehicle are part of the daily routine. As a standard practice, guests are usually called to breakfast before their morning departure and provided a tea or coffee to wake them up. Having said that, you could always get a head start and pack a tasty picnic for the road.
After an active morning, relax with a picnic lunch and some down time to catch up on reading, napping, or just watching the world (and wildlife) pass by from the shade of your tent. A late afternoon wildlife drive, culminating in sundowners, is best enjoyed after a hearty afternoon tea to replenish energy. After you get back, have a leisurely dinner while lounging by the fire or go to your room to hear the lions calling to one another.
Game drives are the main attraction of any safari, but Ol Pejeta Bush Camp goes above and above by taking guests on excursions to see rhinos, modern-day dinosaurs in Africa, and endangered species. In addition to the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities presented by horseback safaris, visitors can also meet the bloodhounds who have vowed to guard their marks during a visit to the Canine Anti-Poaching Unit. Lion tracking is an exciting activity for anyone who want to get close to large cats. Finally, join the rangers from the Ol Pejeta Conservancy for a morning run and coffee if you’re a fitness freak or just want to spice up your routine a bit.
Days 5-8: Head to the Valley of the Leopards | 3 Nights
A short flight to the Masai Mara awaits you after your last meal at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp. A shuttle will take you back to the airfield. Arrive at the reserve’s center and, after meeting your guide at Rekero Camp, go on an introduction game drive to your new lodging.
After you’ve found a comfortable spot in your tent, a leisurely lunch will help you get into the Masai Mara groove. After settling down for the day, treat yourself to a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of freshly made cake—a beloved tradition—before hitting the road for a game drive in the afternoon. As a social event, dinners provide an ideal setting for reminiscing over the day’s wonderful events and exchanging tales with loved ones.
With its prime location, Rekero Camp offers visitors a breathtaking view of the world-renowned Great Migration, an epic annual diary. Actually, from your riverfront tent or perhaps one of the decks, you can observe this mega-herd in all its glory. Expert Maasai guides know their homeland and its animals well and out, so you may benefit from their wealth of comprehensive knowledge during your time here.
A game observing vehicle that has been customised and outfitted with all the necessary equipment is available upon request for photographers of all skill levels. If that doesn’t sound appealing, there are other options, such as taking a hot air balloon ride over the Mara plains or visiting the Kenyan Wildlife Camp to learn about the country’s renowned big cats.
Days 8: An African Farewell
After a filling breakfast, it’s time to make your way to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to arrange for your future travel arrangements. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially after seeing a unique destination like Kenya’s Masai Mara. We have no doubt that you will return for another unforgettable safari, whether this signifies your departure from Africa or your continued journey. The continent has a way of winning over its visitors. We will see you again soon; this is not farewell.
