11-Day Botswana Safari | Wildlife, Culture & Mokoro Rides

11-Day Botswana Safari, you will be escorted by a private guide with extensive expertise who will show you the best of Botswana, from the desert to the Okavango Delta and its rivers. This 11-Day Botswana Safari is all about getting lost in some of the world’s most inaccessible places, whether that’s on the prowl for Africa’s most valuable animals, taking a relaxing ride on a traditional mokoro, or riding quad bikes through lunar-like salt pans.

After a short journey across the Kalahari Desert in a light aircraft, you’ll spend the first several days in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Meeting the San people, also known as the Bushmen, will add even more magic to your already incredible itinerary. The San are an indigenous hunter-gatherer people who were the first to settle in Southern Africa. You will learn their desert-adapted abilities and listen to fascinating tales from their ancient civilisation. After that, you’ll head to the Makgadikgadi Pans, the remains of a mega lake where the salt on the water’s surface sparkles under the scorching African sun; here, you may enjoy astronomy, photography, and more.

The Okavango Delta, sometimes called “the river that never finds the sea,” will be your final destination. The reintroduced black rhino and the endangered African wild dog are just two of the many species that call this pristine refuge home. Experience the thrill of a helicopter safari over the area and the elegance of a traditional mokoro as you glide along the canals of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A Detailed 11-Day Botswana Safari Itinerary

Days 1-3: Welcome to Botswana | 3 Nights

A flight to Maun will take you out of South Africa. After touching down in Maun, your journey to Deception Valley Camp, where you’ll spend the next three nights, will begin with a short flight over the breathtaking Kalahari Desert.

As one of the few lodging options in the world’s second-largest wildlife reserve, the Central Kalahari wildlife Reserve is home to the secluded Deception Valley Lodge. Experience one of Africa’s oldest surviving cultures—the Naru-speaking San or Bushmen—at this one-of-a-kind camp. In addition to being enchanted by tales and folklore, you will acquire the skills of tracking and bushcraft. Every night, you’ll listen to astronomy experts explain the meaning of the stars and constellations.

Days 4-6: The Largest Salt Pans in the World | 3 Nights

You will be taken to Camp Kalahari in the Makgadikgadi Pans area after breakfast. Tents designed in the form of Meru will provide shelter from the weird and beautiful scenery. On a rocky outcrop called Hyena Island, Camp Kalahari is located on the brink of Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.

Over the next several days, you’ll go quad biking (ATVing) over the salt pans and sleep under the stars. During your individual photography session, your guide will lead lectures on night photography and the best techniques to use. Spectacular wildlife viewing occurs during the Green Season (November–April) due to the second-biggest migration of African ungulates (mostly zebra) and the carnivores that accompany them. In the breaks between your adventures, you may relax in the pool, soak up some rays beneath the covered pavilion, and, on clear nights, lose yourself in the stars.

Days 7-10: An Iconic Okavango Delta Experience | 4 Nights

Your transfer to Tuludi Camp, where you will spend the following four nights, will begin after breakfast at Camp Kalahari. Now we’re in the delta, far from the desert, where the promise of a once-in-a-lifetime safari awaits among papyrus, tree islands, and rivers. Among the 200,000 acres of unspoiled wilderness that make up the Khwai Private Reserve lies Tuludi Camp, where the safari’s A-listers mingle.

From riding traditional mokoro boats through the canals and waterways to soaring above the area in a helicopter to take in the breathtaking scenery and wildlife, your days will be jam-packed with exciting adventures. The technique of bird watching and the abundance of species in this region will also be covered by your individual guide. You will also get the opportunity to take an afternoon cooking lesson with the in-house chefs, where you will learn the ins and outs of traditional Delta cuisine and how to make bread.

Day 11: ‘Till We Meet Again, Botswana!

Goodbye, Africa! It’s time to head home after breakfast at the resort. Your own guide will transport you to Maun or Kasane on your last day so that you can arrange for your next travel plans.
