7-Day Botswana Fly-in Safari | Chobe, Okavango Delta & Moremi

A 7-Day Botswana Fly-in Safari | Chobe, Okavango Delta & Moremi. A 7-day fly-in safari in Botswana typically connects the country’s three most iconic wilderness areas—Chobe National Park, the Okavango Delta, and Moremi Game Reserve—using light aircraft transfers to maximize time for wildlife viewing.

Featuring a beautiful blend of opulent safari camps in exclusive locations, this 7-Day Botswana Safari wildlife region tour was designed with romance in mind.

Nestled in the picturesque northern region of Botswana, Chobe Chilwero offers breathtaking views of the floodplains of the Chobe River. Chobe National Park, which has the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa and boasts remarkable sightings all year round, is a fantastic place to go on game drives and boat cruises if you want to see wildlife up close. Baines Camp is located in the middle of the Okavango Delta, which is characterised by pristine wetlands and the Chobe Riverine Forest. The Moremi Game Reserve is best explored from Chief’s Camp. Located in the “predator capital of Africa,” this renowned reserve provides unrivalled opportunities to observe large game.

The Chobe’s closeness to the world-famous Victoria Falls makes it an ideal safari add-on, and this fly-in itinerary is great for both experienced tourists and first-timers. This trip would be the honeymoon of a lifetime because to the romance of the opulent campers and beautiful locations. It goes wonderfully with island vacations in the Indian Ocean as well.

A Detailed 7-Day Botswana Fly-in Safari | Chobe, Okavango Delta & Moremi

Days 1-2: Cruising on the Chobe River | 2 Nights

You will meet your guide at Kasane International Airport and be driven to Chobe Chilwero in a short time. This stunning and opulent lodge has stunning views of the Chobe River floodplains and has won numerous international tourist awards. Return to the main lodge for a delectable afternoon high tea with your guide after you’ve settled into your suite.

Observing the river’s and its banks’ abundant wildlife from a specially designed game viewing boat is an exhilarating experience. From May through October, when the rains subside, Chobe is home to the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa. A safari boat provides an ideal vantage position from which to observe the elephants’ antics as they play along the riverbank.

The sight of these massive animals clearly enjoying the refreshing water in the warm light of late afternoon is an experience that will stay with you forever. While moms keep an eye on their young calves as they play in the shallows, older bulls stay still by the water’s edge and suck on sombre trunkfuls. When a herd crosses a river, sometimes only their trunks are visible above water in the deeper parts. Great pods of hippos snort and grumble in the water as crocodiles unblinkingly bask in the dying warmth of day, as scattered as stones along the riverbank.

Days 3-4: Walking with Okavango Elephants | 2 Nights

The Okavango Delta wetlands are a verdant tapestry of wooded islands, grassy floodplains, winding canals, and papyrus beds; a flight takes you there in the middle of the morning, gliding south over the enormous dry plains of Chobe. Nestled in lush riverine woods, the magnificent Baines Camp is your home in the delta. This camp is unique and intimate, with just five suites, and it has magnificent characteristics. Explore the private veranda with its star bath and sky bed, shaded by tall trees, and enjoy breathtaking views of the delta during the day and the starry sky at night.

Discover the great outdoors on a canoe modelled after the ancient mekoro used by indigenous peoples. This vessel is perfect for navigating the tight canals and provides a unique vantage point from which to explore this enchanting region. As you float silently across the canals, birdsong fills the air, and you see and hear a plethora of natural beauties, such as kingfishers swooping in a flurry of colour, small frogs that resemble jewels clinging to stalks of lilies, and herds of red lechwe antelope feeding in shallow flooded fields.

Days 5-6: The Magical Moremi

Head to Chief’s Island in the Moremi Game Reserve by plane after your last morning activity at Baines. As soon as you touch down on Chief’s Island, the biggest island in the Okavango Delta, you’ll start to see why this place is famous for its abundance of wildlife. While you drive past herds of giraffe perched precariously under acacia trees, you’ll see antelope munching on open plains. With so many animals around, predators are always lurking, and this is a great spot to spot them—the forests are teeming with wildlife, including black-and-green Cape buffalo and the piercing whistling of zebras.

You can just feel the peace and quiet as you pull up to Chief’s Camp. Amidst a canopy of majestic trees and with a view of a vast floodplain, this small camp exudes a delightful ambiance. The spa is hidden along a peaceful little road, while an elegant dining, lounge and bar space opens out to a private pool deck. Before getting ready for your afternoon wildlife drive with your guide, relax in your accommodation and take in the scenery from your balcony.

Forest, grassland, and wetlands are just a few of the landscape changes that occur every few minutes, highlighting the remarkable variety of habitats found here. Since Chief’s Island is home to prides of twenty or more lions, your guide will be on the lookout for their tracks as you explore this top predator attraction.

Head back to camp with stories to tell over supper on the terrace as the distant roar of lions fills the air as the sun sets. Your guide will have chosen a picturesque area for you to relax and sip an ice-cold gin and tonic as you watch the sun go down.

Day 7: Farewell to Africa

Get back on the road to home after a morning drive and brunch, then take a beautiful flight to Maun. As you soar over the perfect wetlands of the Okavango Delta, memories of your past experiences resurface, such as the exhilaration of seeing a lion hunt, the thrill of exploring the wilderness, and the beauty of a sunset over the Chobe River with a hundred elephants by your side. These kinds of recollections make the breathtaking, unspoiled landscapes of northern Botswana feel like home.
